motivation

In this kind of situation, motivation is very important for people to work. Just like the theory of Maslow hierarchy, people want to be affiliated with the group and goes up to the achievement of self-actualization. For example, if one apple is bad in a box, in few days, other apples will be also bad. This example shows us that if one person makes a bad impression or acts like the first and second man on this story, then the whole work place's environment will turn out in a bad way.

To make people think more like the third man, I would try to cut out people with bad attitudes, in spite of their work ability, because even one person can affect the whole group.

individual behavior

Obviously, all the five traits for managers and bosses are extremely important. Although they are very important I want to say that agreeableness is the most important trait from the five traits. Honestly, agreeing with people, sharing and communicating with each other can improve much better quality of work. People tend to agree but on the inside they always have something else in their mind. So sometimes, managers and boss agree to you and say that is a good idea but truthfully they don’t unless it is very good. Agreeing, knowing how to admit will make employees and employer relationships much better.

Leadership!

There are so many different kinds of leaders in our society, but can an outstanding leader in one organization move into an entirely different organization and still be an outstanding leader?  In my opinion, I don't think outstanding leader in one organization move into an entirely different organization and still be an outstanding leader. Leaders may have characteristics to become a leader but if you look at it differently, leaders also need enough knowledge and experience. Overall I'm saying that it depends on the situation.

I will share my own experience.  When I’m in school or at work, people see me as I am not the type of a person who would become a leader of the group. That’s true because I do nothing to become a leader of the group due to my shyness and my thought. I think that it is unnecessary for me to step up because I am not good at this. On the other hand, I am the leader of my church because I have more knowledge and experience. I am always confident about what I do.  I specialized in Drums and flute. I know how to play guitar, piano, bass and sing. I know what to say and I know what to do since I have been to so many services, events, concerts and more. Except some pastors and some adults, I know most of the church stuff that I am never shy and afraid of making mistakes. I am not bragging but people do ask me to become the leader of their group.

Just like the example of my experience, outstanding leaders cannot become outstanding leaders in an entirely different field. People may look up to you and respect you, but if you do not have the skills, then that is not an outstanding leader. Just like the Path-goal theory, leaders should guide people to achieve their goal and if leaders do not have enough knowledge and experience, then the achievement of the goal might be impossible.

HRM

Discrimination is a serious problem around the world. Everyone thinks that discrimination should be solved but apparently, everybody unintentionally discriminates people in society. Although I am Korean, I am going to criticize some Korean companies due to their extreme discrimination in their work places. I will not reveal the name of that company but this is from my work experience.

Usually there are three processes that you have to go through in order for applicants to get hired in the company. First, you need to file the application second, after they put you into the system, you need to take the exam for that company. Third, you need to get an interview with the people who are in the higher system of the company. You get an interview with a group of people (5persons at a time). They ask you random question. Luckily, I had a chance to make it to that interview. While I was waiting for an interview I made a friend who was in the same group. We shared our experience and scores that we had in our past such as SAT score, school GPA, activities and more. In my mind I realized that she didn’t have enough experience nor her scores were lower than mine. During the interview, one of the employers asked her a question how she made it up to the final level with the beautiful looks. He thought that all the beautiful women are not smart enough, and told her that she broke his stereotype. People thought he was joking. After several weeks, I found out that she was the only one who got accepted in our group.

In my opinion, this is discrimination. Even in the current society, many people suffer from this kind of discrimination in Korea. This might be a problem from other countries but since I had this experience in Korea I targeted Korean Companies. Also, we can easily find this in movies where guys are rude to unattractive ladies but are very nice to the more appealing ladies.

In order to solve this kind of problem, people should segregate men and women into separate rooms. For an example, women employers should only interview women and the men should only interview men. In our society we should reinforce the law so that people can have equal chances, such as getting caught by hiring women or men regardless of their experience should be fired by the company. In addition, I think it’s a good idea if you put 360degree feed backs even in the process of getting in to the company. The company should add an activity in one of the processes and collect feedbacks from members. This can provide detailed information about different aspects from many people. If discrimination were banned in the company, I could’ve made it in to that company. I wouldn’t have felt so angry even though I failed to get hired by the company.

Out of the three career objectives for next five years is to get an internship. Currently I am already doing an Internship at Brooklyn called Fusia Communications where I am doing basic office work. With the basic knowledge and experience from this place, my goal is to get an internship at SAMSUNG. I will try to learn to be professional and learn more about my field, marketing. Second, within one and a half year graduating the college is one of my objectives. Last, Becoming one of the employees at Samsung is my plan with in 5years.
Outgoing, Organized and being passionate of what I do can be my personal strength, but my weakness is making unnecessary mistakes compared to other people.
Year 1- Continue Internship at Fusia Communications and build more knowledge and experience of having keen eye. As I said on the paragraph above, I am currently learning basic office jobs such as printing, excel, photoshops and more. People tend to think this kind of work is very basic and easy to do. But once you encounter this moment, many people fail to accomplish small office skills.
Year 2- Get an Internship at Samsung, build more relationships with the people around and develop more skills with building relationships with outgoing personality and being passionate with the work that I have.
Year 3- Graduate College with at least GPA of 3.5
Year 4- Get a Job at Samsung and increase the level of my position. Most importantly do not get fired!!
These are my few objectives within few years and I hope the path of my life can be just like I planed

Decision making in a crisis

1.) The situation was the morning of August 24th 2012.  A shooting had occured right outside the Empire State Building.  An armed man wearing a suit killed a man and proceeded to advanced on the two NYPD officers in front of the Empire State Building.  The armed man was taken down however during the process nine bystanders were injured in the process.
2.) The two NYPD officers reacted well in this situation.  They knew the armed man was ready and willing to take lives.  The officers immediately gunned down the attacker, covered up the crime scene to prevent any kind of mass hysteria and immediately carried off the body from the scene to prevent any other confusion.  The nine bystanders injured were immediately carried off to the hospital for quick treatment.  The police commissioner Ray Kelly, as well as other members of the NYPD immediately gave live interviews to assess the situation and reassure the public on what had happened.
3.) The NYPD officers kept some of the of the six rules for crisis management.  However they did not keep all the rules.  The officers gathered information quickly, realizing the man advancing on them was indeed armed and ready to kill.  They were efficient in quickly taking down the armed man in action.  There was no need to wait for any kind of strategy in this situation, as waiting would be unnecessary.  The officers failed in respecting the unfamiliar because nine innocent bystanders were injured in the crossfire from the officers' bullets.  They clearly though had motives in valuing the skeptics, and successfully returned fire with fire.

Ethnics in action

The ethical dilemma was either to do the right thing such as following the law or get involved in a group of politicians with power and have financial success.

Wealth and power can be a good thing about committing this act, but just like somebody said on the article, “The truth will ultimately prevail.” Disadvantage of this act obviously can lead to prison and failure with people’s disrespect since he was famous in India.

In my opinion, Mr. Jayaswal had Utilitarian view. Not only he wanted to have profits by himself, he also wanted his company to succeed so that he can help others. I think he thought his decision was right because his decision or behavior can do the greatest good for the most people. As you can see on the article, there were people who did not want to reveal their names because of Mr.Jayswal help.

With the current situation, corruption in India will not decrease. When politicians have too many powers, they will only figure out how to live a better life within themselves. Many people will face decisions either to do the right thing or advocate politicians to grab their attentions with success. Many people will face ethical dilemmas just like Mr. Jayaswal. In my opinion, most of the people will choose to support politicians in order for them to survive and support their families. In a situation like this, the government should gather strong people or make a request to other countries to help them fight corruption. I don’t think there is not much of a choice.
