There are so many different kinds of leaders in our society,
but can an outstanding leader in one organization move into an entirely
different organization and still be an outstanding leader? In my opinion, I don't think outstanding
leader in one organization move into an entirely different organization and
still be an outstanding leader. Leaders may have characteristics to become a
leader but if you look at it differently, leaders also need enough knowledge
and experience. Overall I'm saying that it depends on the situation.
I will share my own experience. When I’m in school or at work, people see me
as I am not the type of a person who would become a leader of the group. That’s
true because I do nothing to become a leader of the group due to my shyness and
my thought. I think that it is unnecessary for me to step up because I am not
good at this. On the other hand, I am the leader of my church because I have
more knowledge and experience. I am always confident about what I do. I specialized in Drums and flute. I know how
to play guitar, piano, bass and sing. I know what to say and I know what to do
since I have been to so many services, events, concerts and more. Except some pastors
and some adults, I know most of the church stuff that I am never shy and afraid
of making mistakes. I am not bragging but people do ask me to become the leader
of their group.
Just like the example of my experience, outstanding leaders cannot become outstanding leaders in an entirely different field. People may look up to you and respect you, but if you do not have the skills, then that is not an outstanding leader. Just like the Path-goal theory, leaders should guide people to achieve their goal and if leaders do not have enough knowledge and experience, then the achievement of the goal might be impossible.
Sometimes being a leader in one thing does not necessary make you a leader in something else thats different, you make a point in that.

A leader is great combination of education, experience and personality. One can't live without the other to become a leader. I was also shy when I was a child, but I also got good grades. My teachers would always tell my parents they wouldn't know how smart I was until they graded my homework and tests. Most of us have great ideas, but don't have the confidence to express them. That may be the only thing that differentiate a leader from a non-leader.
답글삭제I agree with Alisha, A successful leaders has certain qualities that make he or she a successful leader. I agree with you too that it is not easy to become a successful leader by moving from one company to another company, but there are people who have become successful. Such as recently Yahoo has a new CEO who used to work for Google, since she move back to Yahoo, Yahoo has seen very good result in its quarterly report
답글삭제I agree with you that without knowledge and expertise, a leader can not become successful. Just as you describe your experience of being a leader in the field where you are considered an expert, leading and motivating comes naturally for you. I believe for many who reached success in leadership it also became naturally, given that you are passionate and knowledgeable about your work.
